QUEENS Park Rangers (QPR) have been charged for failing to control their players and officials after the second division team’s brawl with China’s Olympic side earlier this month, the English Football Association (FA) said Monday. The charge alleges the London club “failed to ensure its players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refraining from violent and/or threatening and/or provocative behavior.” Rangers assistant manager Richard Hill, who has already been suspended by the club for his part in the fight, was separately charged with violent conduct. The brawl took place during a friendly at Rangers’ training ground Feb. 7. Chinese player Zheng Tao was knocked unconscious with a broken jaw. The Chinese Football Association (CFA) said Feb. 16 that it has decided not to punish any of its Olympic team players for the brawl. “Although our players take responsibility too, our investigation into the case shows that it does not rest with the national Olympic players to take responsibility for the fight,” a CFA official said.
