Chinese directors Zhang Yimo and Chen Kaige are among the 35 world famous filmmakers working together on a film to mark the 60th anniversary* of the Cannes Film Festival. The festival’s president, Gilles Jacob, revealed* the names of the participants last week, which also include Wong Kar-wai of Hong Kong and Taiwan directors Hous Hsiao-hsien and Tsai Ming-liang. Each director is asked to shoot a 3-minute feature film with the theme of movie-going. The shorts will be packaged* into one collective film to be called “To Each His Own Cinema.” The film will be screened during a day of celebrations for the anniversary on May 20, the first Sunday of the festival, which runs from May 16 to 27.
