A RISE in agricultural prices in China should be short term, a central bank official said Saturday without giving details.

Tang Xu, director of the People’s Bank of China Research Bureau, made his comment on the sidelines of a financial conference in Beijing. Inflation in January rose 2.2 percent from a year earlier, but figures for agricultural products were not published separately.
