KFC, a popular U.S. fast-food chain, is organizing contests in 16 Chinese cities to search for look-alikes of the chain’s founder Colonel Sanders. The winner will receive a cash prize of 5,000 yuan (US$625). Men above 18 have been invited to participate. Application forms are available at KFC outlets or online at www.kfc.com.cn. Applicants are required to send a color photo of themselves dressed like Colonel Sanders and a color photo without any makeup along with the application form to YUM! Restaurants’ Shenzhen branch, whose address is printed on the application form. The photos can also be e-mailed to kfcchina20@163.com. The deadline for applications is March 9. Pictures of contestants will be posted on the KFC Web site between March 14 and 25 and netizens will vote for the best look-alike from each city. Winners will get a 2,000-yuan each and an invitation to take part in a nationwide KFC tour. The top six winners will compete for the 5,000-yuan award in the finals to be held next month in Beijing. Meanwhile, KFC fans are invited to display their KFC toys, pins, decorations, brochures, pamphlets, T-shirts, caps as well as photos and DVs shot in any KFC restaurants.
