A PREPARATORY committee for the 2011 Universiade has been set up in Shenzhen, headed by Mayor Xu Zongheng, yesterday’s Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

The committee will ensure that the various preparatory works for the 26th Universiade are carried out in an organized and orderly way, the report said, quoting government officials.

Li Yizhen, deputy secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, vice mayors Liang Daoxing and Yan Xiaopei, and Tang Jie, secretary general of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, serve as vice directors of the preparatory committee.

An office, headed by Liang, has been set up to handle the committee’s daily work.
