Han Ximin THE city’s consumer council has reminded consumers to choose brandname room heaters after some of the products were found to have failed safety tests. The council tested 21 brands of heaters in the city’s large department stores in February, and found some products failed national standards. Some manufacturers used substandard electric heating elements to save costs, which could pose a danger, officials with the consumer council said. Electric room heaters are a favorite choice for households in winter in southern China for their convenience, instant heat and hygiene. The consumer council suggested consumers choose brandnames which have reliable after-sale services and check related certificates especially the CCC mark, a compulsory certificate imposed by the Central Government for different groups of products.
