Enjoying food by robot chef*
    2007年03月14日

机器人大厨亮相高交会

Shenzhen scientists have developed the world’s first robot* that can cook Chinese dishes.

The robot, named Aike, made its first appearance* at last year’s China Hi-tech Fair.

The robot can cook a dish in just four to five minutes. During a demonstration, workers put all the ingredients* necessary for the dish into the robot, which looks like a refrigerator. The robot, after reading a bar code*, poured the ingredients into a wok and started to sitr-fry* them and then tossed the wok the way a real chef does.

The robot, developed after four years of research, can cook up to 1,000 Chinese dishes.

The company’s manager says Aike can imitate* a person’s actions and has mastered the skills of cooking Chinese food.

Large-scale production of the robot will start in the latter half of this year.
