Panda pair gift for Hong Kong
Two pandas, a male and a female, chosen by the Central Government as a gift for Hong Kong to mark the 10th anniversary of the city’s handover, eat bamboo at the Wolong panda base in Sichuan Province yesterday. The pair will be sent to Hong Kong before May 1. Ocean Park will host the pandas and Hong Kongers will be able to see them in July.

'Last house standing' to be pulled down
A CHONGQING court Monday ordered residents of a house, which stood by itself in the middle of an otherwise-vacant construction site in Jiulongpo District for more than two years, to move out before Thursday, after which the house will be demolished.
