A new semester had arrived. Everyone was smiling broadly but Linda seemed to be unhappy. Her friend Jane had been transferred to another school. Linda burst into tears from time to time because Jane’s leaving hurt her feelings deeply.

After a while, Anne, Linda’s classmate, came and told her that Linda had left a letter on her desk.

Hearing this, Linda hurried to look for it. She opened it quickly and read: “Goodbye, my dear friend. I didn’t tell you because I was afraid I would cry when I faced you. Please don’t hate me. In my heart, you will be my best friend forever. So I hope you will be happy every day and I will write to you. Thank you for your love.”

The sun had come out and Linda’s tears dried up, because she knew they would be good friends forever.
