An Zhengzhong’s

paintings on show

About 100 ink paintings, oil paintings and woodprints by late Chinese artist An Zhengzhong are on show at the Guan Shanyue Art Museum.

An (1934-2003), a Henan native who devoted his life to the preservation of Chinese folk art, was named “Folk Art Pioneer” by the Ministry of Culture in 1988. The primary themes of his paintings are his life in the army and the natural landscape in Northwest China.

Dates: Through April 1

Danish designs

An exhibition of Danish-designed household goods is being held. The exhibited works are all from Copenhagen-based Rosendahl A/S.

Most of the exhibited works were created by famous Danish designer Lin Utzon, who has won many awards in Europe. Her works express Denmark’s history, humanity and creativity.

Old songs, new voices

True Color Club will host concerts featuring songs by Chyi Chin on March 28, in its monthly “Old Songs, New Voices” program.

“Old Songs, New Voices” is a retrospective of old pop songs performed by new local bands. Date: March 28

Antique show

More than 200 antiques from the collection of late calligrapher Shang Chengzuo (1902-1991) are on show.

The antiques on display include bronze mirrors and arms from the Shang Dynasty (16th-11th century B.C.), Tang printings, Song (960-1127) ink stones and Qing (1644-1911) paintings.

A Buddhist scroll from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) is on display for the first time in the city.
