CCSC volunteers take part in charity race
    2007年03月28日

Concord College of Sino- Canada, in Nanshan District (CCSC)* volunteers and many foreigners take part in a charity race or the Terry Fox Run every year to raise funds for cancer patients. The joggers joined the 8th annual Terry Fox Run in Lixiang Park, Nanshan District in memory of the Canadian athlete, Terry Fox.

Fox, who lost his leg to cancer when he was a teenager, launched* a five-month Marathon of Hope in 1980 to raise money for cancer research.

After running 5,376 kilometers, the cancer that had taken his right leg spread to his lungs and forced Fox to quit.

He died less than a year later at 21, but his courage, vision and determination continues to influence others. People from about 70 countries and regions participate* in the charity event every year to continue Fox’s goal of raising money for cancer research.

CCSC joined the tradition* in 2002 by launching the 1st Annual Terry Fox Run. All the students and teachers at CCSC and foreigners raise a large sum of money every year for the Terry Fox Run Cancer Research Center in Guangzhou.
