Famous Chinese athlete* Liu Xiang has been invited to play the lead role in a new movie called “One Man’s Olympics,” which is expected to start shooting at the end of May.

A number of other Chinese athletes have also been invited to join the cast*, including diver Tian Liang, table tennis star Kong Linghui and former Olympic champion runner Wang Junxia.

The film will be directed by Hou Yong, who has won the Golden Rooster Award four times in the past. The internationally acclaimed director Zhang Yimou has been invited to be the artistic advisor for the film.
