Children’s ‘ocean of art’

The second Shenzhen children’s visual art exhibition is being held in Shenzhen Children’s Palace.

A biennial event, the theme of this year’s exhibition is “Shenzhen Embraces the World.” It aims to bring children’s creativity into play, and through their eyes and hands present a beautiful Shenzhen to the world.

All halls and open spaces in the palace are filled with exhibits, including handicrafts, drawings and photographs, creating an “ocean of art.”

Dates: Through Aug. 30

Relics from Henan

More than 116 relics from the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties (2207-249 B.C.), which were discovered in Henan Province, are being exhibited in Shenzhen.

Organized by Shenzhen Museum, Henan Museum and Henan Culture Relics Archaeology Research Institute, the exhibition also features documentary videos and site maps.

Dates: Through Oct. 14

Sculptures with a taste

of music, dance

Shenzhen Art Museum is exhibiting 48 sculptures created by Pan Gengdi over the past 10 years.

A graduate of the Fine Arts College of Shanghai University, Pan is now a sculptor living in Guangzhou and also a member of the China Sculptors’ Academy.

Pan gained his reputation in Guangdong’s world of sculpture when he won an award in the 2001 “New Beijing New Olympics” Sports Sculpture Exhibition with his work “Spirit of the Olympics.”

Pan’s sculptures feature slim and flexible arms and legs of dancers and musicians with vague faces. He loves to express scenes of dancing and music in his sculptures.

Sculpture exhibition

More than 10 sculptures of political figures, animals and human bodies are being shown in Shenzhen. The exhibited works have been created by 10 artists, namely Cao Chunsheng, Zhong Ma, Shi Shuqing, Wang Hu, Yang Xiaozhong, Pan Song, Zeng Jing, Yu Jiankun, Wang Chao and Li Tang.
