WASPS attacked two women in Bao’an District on Saturday afternoon, leaving one in a state of shock.
The women, surnamed Xiao and Hong, were walking on Eastern Ring Road 2 in Longhua Subdistrict when a man in his 20s disturbed a wasps’ nest on a tree by hitting it with a brick at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported Monday.
The two women were chased by wasps. Xiao, who is allergic to wasps, lost consciousness and was sent to Longhua People’s Hospital by passers-by. Hong also received some medical treatment.
“We were walking out of our factory when we heard buzzing from behind, we ran for help, but Xiao was attacked with more than 20 stings on hands, shoulders and waist,” said Hong. Police removed the wasps’ nest later.
Although most stings do not require medical attention, some can be serious or even fatal if a patient has an allergic reaction, experts say.(Han Ximin)
