Controversial dancer brings sensual musical
    2007年09月20日  01:22    Shenzhen Daily

Controversial dancer Tang Jiali will present a sensual musical in Shenzhen at the end of this month.

Produced by former Hong Kong star Moon Lee and her husband, the musical, titled “Senses,” has been performed more than 250 times in North America since its Vancouver debut in 2005. It has won acclaim from U.S. and Canadian media and audiences.

“Senses” tells an everlasting love story which is set in four periods of time: the Tang Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty, the present and the future. The musical highlights the beauty and charm of Chinese women of different eras.

Tang was born in 1976 in Hefei, Anhui Province. A graduate of the Beijing Dance Academy, she became a celebrity in 2003 after publishing nude photographs of herself.

While most domestic media outlets have depicted “Senses” as a “sexy” and “adult” dance drama, Tang insists that “the human body is a beautiful art and ‘sexy’ is the highest remark for a woman.” “I hope audiences enjoy the musical,” she said.
