The Shenzhen Concert Hall comprises a symphony hall, a theater and other supplementary facilities. The canyon-terrace shaped symphony hall is mainly used for symphony concerts, with its stage right in the center like an island. With a total area of 2,200 square meters, and a stage area of 251.4 square meters, the hall can host a 300-member orchestra and chorus. The stage has 36 elevated platforms besides the fixed one, and can be arranged flexibly for the use of different-sized orchestras. The symphony hall has 1,800 seats. Between every two rows is a comfortable 1.05-meter-wide space. And the 60 VIP seats each have 1.3-meter leg space. Acoustics at the symphony hall were designed by Yasuhisa Toyota of Nagata Acoustics, a leading Japanese firm. The T60 (reverberation time) is from 1.8 to 2.0 seconds. The acoustic reflector that covers the stage works together with the canopy and walls to provide perfect sound effects. With 86 stops and 6,432 pipes, the pipe organ is made by Rieger, an Austrian company with 150 years of history. The theater, with a total area of 629 square meters, can meet the requirements of various shows, especially for experimental productions. Its seats can be adjusted to accommodate between 400 and 580. Supplementary facilities include a recording studio, 4 VIP rooms, 18 piano rooms, 20 dressing rooms and 20 five-star hotel rooms catering to the needs of touring artists.
