香港“法国电影节”将热映23部法国新片

The 36th French Cinepanorama will be held from December 7 to 16 in Hong Kong, the city’s Alliance Francaise said on Monday.

The French Cinepanorama, a film festival first held in 1953, introduces new French films to Hong Kong audiences.

The 36th French Cinepanorama will have 23 of the latest French movies, which have been classified into three categories: New Films 2007, Reels Discovery and Focus on French Film Noir.

“Passion Blows Up,” the theme of the film festival this year, focuses on the human passion for cinema, life, romance and other things.

“To Each His Own Cinema,” the opening film of the festival, was produced to mark the 60th anniversary of the Cannes Festival this year, by 32 famous directors from around the world, including Wong Kar-wai of Hong Kong, Zhang Yimou and Chen Kaige of the Chinese mainland, Hou Hsiao-hsien and Tsai Ming-liang of Taiwan, Takeshi Kitano of Japan, Roman Polanski of Poland and French directors Claude Lelouch, Olivier Assayas and Raymond Depardon.

The Cannes 2007 award-winning film “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly,” based on the memoirs* of former editor-in-chief of French fashion magazine ELLE Jean-Dominique Bauby, will be one of the films premiered* at the film festival.

Other selections include the science fiction movie “Chrysalis,” the French romance “Twice Upon a Time,” and “Don’t Touch the Axe” by famous New Wave director Jacques Rivette.
