    2007年11月15日  02:20    Shenzhen Daily

THE Jing’an District People’s Court in Shanghai on Tuesday ordered a young Briton only identified as Steven to pay 10,754 yuan (US$1,434) to an old woman he knocked down.

The court said Steven knocked down the 75-year-old woman surnamed Zhou. Zhou suffered fractures i while driving inside a residential complex in the accident.

The judge said a growing number of foreigners are working in China, and some of them possess a foreign driver’s license. But foreign licenses are not accepted in China, as clearly stipulated in the country’s traffic safety law, he said.
