A man was arrested in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Tuesday in connection with an explosion which occurred at a factory canteen in Longgang District on Nov. 10. The man, identified by his last name Li, was brought back to Shenzhen by police Wednesday evening. He planted the home-made bomb in a lunch box to take revenge on a woman, a woman, surnamed Huang, after she had refused to be his girlfriend, Saturday's Daily Sunshine reported. The explosion occurred at about 11:50 a.m. Nov. 10 when Huang, a 24-year-old migrant worker, was about to open her lunch box next to a sink at the canteen in the Shenkeng No. 2 Industrial Zone in Henggang Subdistrict. Huang lost four of her fingers and part of her right palm in the explosion. Three other workers, one man and three women, who were standing nearby were also injured. Investigation conducted after the incident found that Huang's lunch box was the only one of hundreds of boxes at the canteen which had explosive in it, leading police to believe that the bomb was placed there by someone known to Huang. The police soon singled out Li as a suspect. Li and Huang both came from the town of Qinzhou in Guangxi, and Li had helped the woman find a job at a clothing factory in Henggang in July. He was also reported to have been pursuing Huang, and was prone to becoming jealous when he saw her with other men. Two months after she arrived in Shenzhen, Huang came to know a restaurant waiter, who was only identified as Ah Hua. The two became lovers very soon, which incensed Li. Li quit his job in Longgang and returned to Guangxi Nov. 2. Following several experiments, he succeeded in making explosives at home. Li returned to Shenzhen Nov. 9 and sneaked into the factory canteen to put the explosive inside Huang's lunch box. To ensure he had an alibi,Li fled back to Guangxi hours after the explosion occurred.
