Taiwan pop music group F.I.R. and Hong Kong duo Soler will perform at a charity concert tonight in Kingglory Plaza.

Renowned producer Ian Chen formed his own band and recruited the other two members to form F.I.R. in 2004. The name F.I.R. comes from the initials of the names of the three members: Faye, Ian, and Real. It is also an acronym for “Fairyland in Reality,” one of their albums.

They are well-known throughout Asia with their hit “Lydia,” which was the theme song for the Taiwan TV drama “The Outsiders.” Having a beautiful voice that asked for attention, the song attracted a following leading to F.I.R.’s big success when they finally debuted in 2004. Since their debut, they have often been compared with the disbanded Japanese rock band, Do As Infinity, because of the similar music styles and formation of the group members.

Formed by twin brothers Julio Acconci (lead vocals) and Dino Acconci (guitar/vocals), Soler made their Hong Kong debut in early 2005. The twins were born in Macao to an Italian father and a Myanmar mother. Initially formed in the mid-1990s, Soler signed with EMI Italy and released an album in Italy some years ago, but unfortunately it failed to catch on.

Unlike many Hong Kong artists who are mostly pop idols, Soler write all their own music and are renowned for the quality of their live performances. They have been acclaimed by fans, fellow artists and critics alike.

Taiwan singer Claire Guo and mainland singer Qian Weicheng will also appear on the program.
