Shenzhen is a young and energetic city. Many international sports competitions and cultural expositions have been held here.

In 2011, a great sports game called the Universiade will be held in this beautiful city, and I believe it will absolutely be a big event for Shenzhen and the Shenzhen people. Many people in Shenzhen already know of its significance and are getting ready for it.

I think the Shenzhen people should be very proud to hold this competition. Shenzhen should be well-prepared so that we can hold the Universiade successfully.

Firstly, although Shenzhen has done a lot to improve its environment, it is everybody’s responsibility to work together to further promote the environment. Of course, it needs everybody’s efforts. As a Shenzhen resident, I wish to set a good example. I will save every drop of water and make full use of it. I will pick up rubbish wherever I see it lying on the road. I will join the volunteers’ union to help people in need. In fact, it is easy for every one to make a contribution to our city. With every one’s help, we can make a difference to this city.

Secondly, learning to speak English is very important for this great sports meet because many foreign athletes and spectators will come to Shenzhen. We can give them help by acting as their interpreters and talking with them in English to know their problems and help solve them. By doing so, we can help them enjoy their stay in Shenzhen.

Thirdly, we should encourage all Shenzhen people to have good manners. Although Shenzhen has many talents with high qualities, we can still see a lot of uneducated or impolite behavior on the streets or other public places. We should promote the importance of being polite because it is quite necessary to show the world how wonderful Shenzhen people are.

In conclusion, I hope every one can make a contribution to Shenzhen for the 2011 Universiade. Let’s welcome the Universiade with our own efforts.
