Curbs lifted
All commercial banks in Shenzhen yesterday lifted limits on daily cash withdrawals. Earlier media reports had said the withdrawal curbs would not be lifted until Jan. 1 next year.
A daily limit of 30,000 yuan (US$3,947) had been set for over-the-counter transactions by individuals Nov. 2 while weekly and monthly limits had been limited to 50,000 yuan and 200,000 yuan respectively. Corporate withdrawals had been limited to 100,000 yuan each day, 200,000 yuan each week and 500,000 yuan each month.

Low-rent housing
A total of 808 low-rent and government-subsidized apartments wrongfully occupied by civil servants in Shenzhen had been vacated by Tuesday, the deadline for vacating the housing. The names of civil servants who have not yet left the apartments they are not eligible to possess will be made public if they cannot provide a valid reason for not vacating, officials with the municipal land resources and housing management bureau said.

Woman on trial
A woman who stabbed her husband to death stood trial at the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court on Tuesday.
The woman, surnamed Huang, pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday. Huang's husband, known only by his last name Lin, tried to force Huang to have sex at about 3 a.m. May 27. Huang, who had had abortion less than one month ago, refused. The two got into a fight and Lin was stabbed in his chest by Huang who had grabbed a knife in an attempt to defend herself.
