A woman died after being injected with anaesthetic at an unlicensed dental clinic in Futian District on Friday, yesterday's Daily Sunshine reported. The woman, Ou Fenlian, was suspected of being allegic to anaesthetic and died of cardiorespiratory failure as a result. A woman surnamed Huang, who accompanied Ou to the dental clinic, confirmed no skin test had conducted before Ou was given the injection. The owner of the clinic, known by his last name Li, has been detained by police pending further investigation. Ou, 39 and a mother of two children, arrived at the clinic at about 2 p.m. Friday. She felt dizziness and wanted to vomit two to three minutes after Li gave her an injected anaesthetic into her gum. Ou's face turned blue and her lips pale after she vomitted twice, Huang recalled. However, Li kept saying: "Everything will be fine." At about 3:10 p.m., Li, sensing something was wrong, had Ou sent to the Futian Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. Ou was pronounced dead on arrival. The case is being investigated.
