Guangzhou-born singer Hins Cheung will meet his Shenzhen fans Sunday afternoon at Book City in Luohu District. Born in 1981, Cheung, a handsome singer and songwriter, is well-known in Hong Kong and Guangdong for his musical talent. At the age of 19, Cheung wrote and released a number of singles for radio stations in Guangzhou. He also helped Kenwood home cinema produce a Dolby digital sound effects system, as well as Dolby surround composition in movies. He released his debut album, “My Way,” in 2003 and gained immediate recognition in the music industry. It took him another two years to release his second album “Am/Pm” (with the concept of music in the morning, evening and night). Now with a contract with Universal Records, he released another two albums in 2006, namely “Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter” and “Hins First,” a Cantonese album. With his fluency in Cantonese and putonghua, Cheung stuck to making putonghua albums, along with a few obligatory Cantonese tracks for the Hong Kong market. More than four years after his debut, he has released his first fully Cantonese album, “The Book of Laughter and Forgetting,” a title borrowed from the book by Milan Kundera. Unlike his previous albums, there are quite a few Cantopop-style songs in this album. The multi-talented singer is back for an extra serving of Cantonese songs with his new album “Ardent Love” and Shenzhen fans can get Cheung’s signature on album copies Sunday.(Cao Zhen)
