Fugitive captured

MA ZHIQIANG, a prison fugitive wanted by the Ministry of Public Security, was caught in Central China's Henan Province, Xinhua reported Friday.

The 32-year-old fugitive, who broke out of jail in Xingguo County in the early hours of Oct. 30 with seven others, was nabbed by 20 police in a rubbish collection center in northern Henan Province's Jiaozuo City on Thursday evening, two days after several residents there recognized the man from an wanted poster.

Moon picture

THE first picture of the moon captured by China's lunar orbiter, Chang'e I, is expected to be ready for publication today, the country's space administration said Friday.

Data of the original picture taken by the satellite has now been transmitted back to Earth, the China National Space Administration said.

Toll rises to 15

THE death toll from Wednesday's shipping accident off the coast of East China's Shandong Province has increased to 15, with one person still missing, sources with the local rescue headquarters said yesterday.

Divers called in from the Beihai Rescue Bureau, under the Ministry of Communications, recovered five more bodies Saturday from the same cabin where they had earlier found 10 victims. The ship, carrying a cargo of flour and cement, as well as passengers, capsized Wednesday morning.
