WORK on a new park for children in Shenzhen is set to start on a narrow strip of land to the south of Qiaoxiang Road and Nonglin Road in Futian District as early as September next year. If everything goes smoothly, the Children’s Amusement Park will be finished in October 2009, yesterday’s Daily Sunshine reported. Covering an area of 180,000 square meters, three times the size of the Children’s Park in Luohu District, the children’s amusement park will be for children under 14 years old. The park will feature a vast stretch of greenery, a popular science area, children’s playground, fish pond, melons and fruits garden and electric entertainment facilities. “We went to the children’s park and Changlong Water Park in Guangzhou, as well as Hong Kong Disneyland on inspection tours just to select various entertainment programs for children,” said Yu Shulian, head of the management department with the amusement park. The park will be designed with the theme of “children’s green garden,” Yu said. The purpose is to allow children to play and study in a natural environment so as to shape good personalities, she said. The amusement park will have two entrances with the main entrance on Nonglin Road. The park will be designed to accommodate 5,000 visitors on normal days and 15,200 visitors on peak days. The municipal government plans to spend 66 million yuan (US$8.68 million) on the infrastructure and associated facilities.(SD News)
