As winter approaches, Shenzhen sees its first group of migratory birds, including egrets, spoonbills, wild ducks, ospreys, gledes and cormorants, arriving at the Mangrove Natural Resort in Futian District. Around 100,000 birds of 194 kinds spend the winter in Shenzhen every year from October to April. The Mangrove Natural Reserve, extending for 9 kilometers along the Shenzhen Bay in Futian, has become a popular destination for birds of passage from the north after a long journey to the south each year. The birds, flying over the water leisurely in the sunlight, make for a splendid sight.
