Guangdong folk

handicrafts

A total of 157 pieces of Guangdong handicrafts from the Guangdong Folk Crafts Museum are being exhibited at the Shenzhen Museum.

The handicrafts, including Guangzhou colored china, Shiwan ceramics (from Foshan), Guangdong embroidery, stone sculptures, Guangzhou ivory sculptures, Chaozhou wood sculptures and Foshan wood prints, were selected from a total of 17,900 pieces dating back to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) currently housed at the Guangzhou-based museum.

The majority of the exhibited items are Guangzhou colored china.

‘Pink Floyd Ballet’

The National Ballet of China, the nation’s most prestigious ballet troupe, will stage its first rock dance performance, “Pink Floyd Ballet,” in Shenzhen.

The performance was first choreographed by Roland Petit for the Ballet de Marseilles in 1973, based on the works of legendary rock band Pink Floyd.

The performance consists of 18 sections using 12 pieces from well-known Pink Floyd albums, “The Wall,” “The Dark Side of the Moon,” “Meddle,” “Relics,” “Is Anybody Out There?” and “Obscured by Clouds.” The sound of fierce wind separates different dance sections.

Veterans to

take the stage

Well-known Chinese singers, including Dedema and Caidan Zhuoma, will perform at the Shenzhen Citizens’ Center next month.

These singers, popular in the 1950s and 1960s, will present a program of songs familiar to older Chinese people. Several young singers will also appear on stage during the concert.
