MORE than 70 works by young teachers from the Chinese painting department of the China Academy of Art in Zhejiang Province are on display at the Guan Shanyue Art Museum until Jan. 28.

“This joint exhibition aims to show the most recent accomplishments young artists of the China Academy of Art have made in art exploration and academic research since the academy’s Chinese painting department was greatly expanded in 2000,” said Chen Junyu, the exhibition’s planner and deputy director of the research department of Guan Shanyue Art Museum.

Many participating artists, all in their 30s or 40s and active on the Chinese art scene today, have won various prizes at the national level of art competitions and exhibitions in recent years, Chen said.

Among them, Chen Chaoli is particularly good at depicting young people on the streets in big cities with traditional techniques of Chinese figure painting.

Chen Li likes to paint classic gardens in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, with traditional techniques of Chinese landscape paintings.

In her works, Luo Ying focuses on scenes of traditional Chinese courtyards, paying special attention to the changes of sunlight and shade.

Another woman painter Zhou Qing pursues an elegant, soft and gentle style in her flower and bird painting, which can rarely be found among young Chinese painters today.

The exhibition attracted more than 50 artists from the Guangzhou Academy of Art, Shenzhen University and Dafen Oil Painting Village in Longgang District.
