People dance in the square where the largest Spring Festival couplets in Shenzhen can be seen in Luohu District yesterday. The 70-meter-long and 10-meter-wide banner bearing the New Year couplets took 10 workers a day to hang on the ICBC Building in Caiwuwei on Feb. 1. The couplets, which convey wishes for good fortune for the country and its people, were written by Jin Long, president of the Shenzhen Calligraphy and Painting Association. Pasting Spring Festival couplets featuring Chinese calligraphy with black characters on red paper on door panels is one of the traditional celebrations of the lunar Chinese New Year.
