Han Ximin A YOUNG man, said to be an employee of Huawei Technologies, the largest telecom equipment manufacturer in China, fell from the top of a canteen at its research and development center in Bantian, Longgang District, on Thursday. The Sina.com.cn Web site quoted a notice to its workers from Huawei, saying Zhang Liguo, 36, fell from the eighth-floor canteen during lunch time. The company regretted the death and was cooperating with police to establish a motive. Zhang was taken to Beijing University Shenzhen Hospital and the company later confirmed the death. This was the second fatal accident at Huawei in two weeks after another worker at the company’s Chengdu Software Park died in a fall from the fourth floor of his office building. It was said the worker, Li Bing, 27, a graduate in computer science, had accumulated several hundred thousand yuan in debt on the stock market before his death. He may also have feared losing his job if the company closed one of its projects in Chengdu. Last year, two workers of Huawei Technologies took their own lives because of work stress and quarrels with colleagues.
