HOLLYWOOD star Leonardo DiCaprio showed his determination to help solve the world’s environmental issues during his first visit to Hong Kong.
The star appeared Sunday at an outdoor plaza in Hong Kong to promote HSBC’s new “Green Credit Card,” entertainment news outlet Tungstar reported.
HSBC claims its green card is made of environmentally friendly material and uses digital bills to cut down paper consumption. Every transaction will also contribute to a local environmental protection project. The green card will be in use in early April.
The launch of the green card was jointly spearheaded by HSBC and DiCaprio’s foundation, Tungstar says.
DiCaprio called on Hong Kong fans to protect the environment in their daily lives, citing his own solar-powered house and environmentally friendly car as examples.
During his stay in Hong Kong, DiCaprio also attended the local premiere of the documentary film “The 11th Hour,” which he created, produced and narrated to address the needs of environmental protection.
