奥运食品安全力保万无一失
The head of China’s quality watchdog* early this month assured* participants and visitors to the Beijing Olympics in August that their food will be safe, and wish them “a good time here with a good appetite and happy sightseeing tours.”
“The safety of Olympic food will be fully guaranteed,” said Li Changjiang, head of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).
All the food for athletes, coaches and visitors to the Olympics will be produced by designated* farming and processing businesses in line with international standards.
An effective food safety monitoring network has been in place for Olympic food production, he said.
Food products will be transported directly from the processing plants to the Olympic Village and the hotels occupied by officials and journalists to prevent any contamination*. Also, GPS will be used to monitor transportation and storage.
To address food safety issues, the Chinese Government launched a four-month nationwide campaign in late August last year to crack down on* unlicensed* food shops and suppliers and on sales of food products without quality and inspection certificates.
