Consumer complaints
A total of 224 complaints were filed with the municipal and district consumer councils in February, a drop of 34.31 percent compared to January. Consumers recovered losses of 157,976.27 yuan (US$22,250) , the Shenzhen Consumer Council's latest report said.
Complaints about services accounted for 37.5 percent of the total complaints, topping the list.
Gang charged
Four members of a criminal gang were recently charged on five counts including dealing in firearms and possessing drugs.
The gang, headed by a man surnamed Lu, allegedly possessed nine handguns and 60 bullets. They held captive three people in a hotel in Futian District on Sept. 6, 2007, the Futian People's Procuratorate said Monday.
Passenger boom
THE Luohu Checkpoint expects to see an increase in the number of travelers during the Qingming Festival period from April 3 to 6.
The checkpoint will put all lanes in use during the period, as it expects to see an average of 326,000 cross-border travelers daily during the four days, checkpoint sources said yesterday.
