Shenzhen's first Earth Hour event will be held Saturday night at Lotus Hill Park.
Participants are advised to take food and drink, a groundsheet (towel, blanket) to sit on, mosquito repellant, and a ball, Frisbee, or other sports equipment. Picnics, games and an unplugged concert by local troubador Dave Seymour will be featured from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A global event to show that the people of the world care about the future of the planet, Earth Hour begins at 8 p.m. and all participants are required to turn off electronic devices, including mobile phones, for an hour.
Open discussion will follow the unplugged hour.
