Tiger tale

A COUNTY government official and a local TV reporter have been ousted from their posts for fabricating a short film of an endangered South China tiger in the central province of Hunan, local sources said Wednesday.

Terrorist attempt

A 19-YEAR Uygur woman has confessed to having attempted to blow up a passenger plane taking off from Urumqi on March 7, China's Ministry of Public Security announced Thursday. The attempt was foiled.

Shoe checks

AIR passengers on the Chinese mainland will face stricter security checks as the country's top aviation watchdog Wednesday ruled passengers must take off their shoes for inspection. 

Car accident

Ten people died and two others were injured after a car crashed into a bus in Liuzhou of Guangxi Province. The deceased included four women.

Nuclear declaration

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with her South Korean counterpart Yu Myung-Hwan in Washington Wednesday with the two sides urging the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to disclose fully all its nuclear programs as soon as possible.

A UKRAINIAN Mi-8 helicopter crashed into the Black Sea on Thursday, with only one among the 13 people on board found alive and the other 12 missing, officials said.
