SHENZHEN Charity Association will distribute 332,000 yuan (US$46,761) to migrant workers who have encountered financial difficulties because of industrial accidents or serious diseases.
A total of 38 workers will benefit from the program at a ceremony on the sidelines of the Second China (Shenzhen) International Science & Living Fair that opens to the public Saturday.
The charity will also launch a program called the Songhe Growth Fund to help children of the Miao ethnic minority group in Guangxi and Guizhou who were unable to continue their education because of financial difficulties.
This will be the third time the association has handed out charity funds to help migrant workers since the beginning of the year.
The association has paid out 3.75 million yuan to 421 migrant workers since the program was initiated in March last year when the association began withdrawing 500,000 yuan a month for migrant workers.
