SHENZHEN was chosen to permanently host the China Venture Capital and Private Equity Forum from next year, it was announced at a press conference at Shenzhen Guest House on Saturday.
As the annual forum expanded and exerted more influence, Shenzhen, the first pilot city in China using venture capital, was chosen as the annual host of the event. The joint organizers, China National Democratic Construction Association, Ministry of Science and Technology, People’s Government of Guangdong Province and Shenzhen Municipal Government emphasized that this would be a win-win situation.
On the one hand, Shenzhen would be able to further attract and accumulate a wide variety of innovative resources and elements including capital, professionals and projects with the forum as a platform for domestic and overseas venture capitalists to learn more about Shenzhen.
The forum would also enable Shenzhen to increase the number of potential partners and study the advanced international investment concepts and management methods in a more direct way, Li Xinghua, director with the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province said.
As one of the most innovative cities in China, Shenzhen also had a number of exclusive advantages, including preferential policies in the fields of high-technology and venture capital, a cultural atmosphere advocating innovation and displaying a willingness to accept failure, teams of innovative and enterprising entrepreneurs, a well-defined industry cluster with a comprehensive support system, rich experience in hosting fairs and exhibitions, and the approaching establishment of the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM), Shenzhen Vice Mayor Lu Ruifeng said.
Lu also confirmed that the city would lend more support to the forum and to venture capital companies to help develop the industry.
