New air route

A NEW thrice-weekly flight will ply between Shenzhen International Airport and Luzhou, Sichuan Province, starting Friday.

China Eastern Airlines will operate every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. The flight will depart Shenzhen at 6:15 p.m. and arrive in Luzhou at 8 p.m.

Incense tree

HALF of an incense tree, a State-protected species, in the Fairylake Botanical Garden has been chopped down, and its root has also not been spared.

The best-quality incense tree, which can be used to extract balm, is sold for US$1,162 per kilogram in overseas markets.

Polygamy charge

A MAN, who fathered seven children with five women, was recently detained by police on a polygamy charge. The man, identified only by his last name Xu, will be prosecuted once enough evidence has been collected.
