Tevez equalizer keeps United on course
    2008年04月21日  06:18    Shenzhen Daily

CARLOS TEVEZ grabbed a dramatic late goal to earn Manchester United a 1-1 draw against Blackburn at Ewood Park on Saturday.

The Argentina striker headed the ball home with two minutes to go after Paul Scholes had flicked on a corner from Nani.

Blackburn threatened to throw the Premier League title race wide open when Roque Santa Cruz put his team ahead in the 21st minute with his 16th league goal of the season.

Brad Friedel made saves on shots by Cristiano Ronaldo, John O’Shea and Tevez. United had four penalty claims turned down by the referee, before Tevez tied the game in the 88th. Paul Scholes flicked on a corner and the Argentina striker headed into the roof of the net.

The tie means United has 81 points from 35 games and Chelsea has 78 with the two teams set to meet at the Blues’ Stamford Bridge next Saturday.

“We played like champions,” United manager Alex Ferguson said. “We’ve rescued a point again late on, with another goal from Carlos Tevez so that’s a very positive thing.”
