The Night of the Ad Eaters, a show about advertising, will be staged at the Shenzhen Poly Theater.
The annual show, which tours more than 40 countries, features advertising productions from 60 nations. This cult event offers the audience two hours of the finest, most amazing, funniest and most unexpected advertising films from around the world.
The all-new 2008 selection of the best of the world’s advertising will include British director Guy Ritchie’s advertisement featuring Madonna, and the Chanel 5 advertisement with Nicole Kidman.
The program will include animated advertisements from the 1950s, a French gas heater advertisement from 1921, Italian advertisements from the 1960s and other advertisements directed by Jean Luc Godard, David Lynch, Bakhtigar Khoudoynazarov, Giuseppe Tornatore, Emir Kusturica, Roman Polanski, Wim Wenders, Robert Altman, and Olivier Paulus.
The Night of the Ad Eaters is a 26-year-old annual event that has been shown in 160 cities across 47 countries, from France, Russia and Japan to China, Mexico and Mongolia. The show is the creation of the great French film artist Jean-Marie Boursicot. Each year he combines hundreds of novel advertisements from around the world into an entertaining show that enables audiences to experience a gigantic cultural tableau made up of glimpses into life in a multitude of countries.
