Italian pianist and conductor Andrea Bonatta will come to Shenzhen next month to perform three works of Mozart for local classical music lovers, accompanied by the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra.
The repertoire will include “Piano Concerto No. 12 in A Major, K. 414,” “Piano Concerto No. 13 in C Major, K. 415” and “ Symphony No. 38 in D Major (‘Prague’), K. 504.”
Hailed as a “poet of the piano,” Bonatta was born in Bolzano, Italy, and received his first piano lessons from his mother, a distinguished concert pianist, when he was only 5. His musical development was influenced by various cultural experiences. At the very beginning, he studied with his Italian teachers, Nunzio Montanari and Emilio Riboli, followed by further studies under Paul Badura-Skoda in Vienna, Nikita Magaloff in Geneva, Stefan Askenase in Bonn and Wilhelm Kempff in Positano.
After winning many prizes in international competitions, Bonatta embarked on an international concert career. Meanwhile he held piano concerts in opera houses in various countries.
Besides numerous radio and TV productions, he has also recorded various CDs for the French Astrée-Auvidis label, including the complete piano works of Brahms and the complete “Harmonies Poétiques et Religieuses” of Liszt.
In addition to his appearances as a concert pianist, he has given master classes in a string of European institutions. Bonatta had been invited to be the judge of several international piano competitions. He is the artistic director of the Feruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano.
