Wang Yuanyuan The Maeght Gallery in France will be represented at the fourth China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair (ICIF) with paintings of well-known artists from throughout the world. This was announced by the ICIF organizing committee last week. The Maeght Gallery, founded in 1936, will exhibit paintings from Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Turkey, the United States and China. "We started holding cultural communication events in China in 2007," said Yoyo Maeght, who is in charge of the Maeght Gallery. "On the one hand, we want to show Chinese audience the best international paintings through the gallery and the cultural fair. On the other hand, we also want to introduce Chinese paintings to Europe." Meanwhile, the art committee of the ICIF was established Friday. Well-known Chinese artists were invited to examine and approve the paintings and will also decide on awards for paintings and arrange auctions next year. Huang Yanglue, president of Shenzhen Press Group, one of the orgnanizers, said the committee would raise the profile and authority of the art exhibition during the ICIF, which will be held from May 16 to 19 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. "The establishment of a professional judging committee can attract more high-level productions from well-known domestic penmen and painters to the ICIF and help increase the number of deals clinched," he said. According to the organizing committee, 1,687 delegations had signed up for the fair by Friday. The organizers expect more than 12,000 overseas professional buyers at the fair.
