Here comes Declan Galbraith
    2008年05月06日  09:47    Shenzhen Daily

Irish teen sensation Declan Galbraith will sing at the Shenzhen Poly Theater later this month.

Raised in a musical household, Galbraith is known for the control and range of his voice, as well as his ability to interpret and adapt material of differing genres.

After making his public debut at the age of 7 at a local festival devoted to the life and work of Charles Dickens, the young singer became a regular on the talent show circuit. It was reported that when Galbraith started singing, “the crowd went wild.”

In 2001, at the age of 9, Galbraith’s first single, a version of the Christmas standard “Walking in the Air,” was released. It was followed a year later by his first album, “Declan.” An album of largely traditional songs and Irish tunes ranging from “Danny Boy” to a cover of Robbie Williams’ “Angels,” the release was a modest success.

The big success came during a nationwide tour of Young Voices concerts. It was at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast in 2002 when he sang “Tell Me Why” live with some 10,000 children and was also simultaneously linked, by radio and satellite, with more than 80,000 children in schools all over Britain.

In 2006, a newly adolescent Galbraith signed to the Starwatch label, which reintroduced the young singer to the European audience as a pop idol heartthrob. His second album, “Thank You,” featured smooth adult contemporary versions of pop hits like Eric Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven” and the Moody Blues’ “Nights in White Satin.”
