Aid flight

A JADE Cargo flight arrived in Yangon, Myanmar, on Saturday with relief supplies for cyclone survivors. The Boeing 747-400 aircraft belonging to Jade Cargo, a subsidiary of Shenzhen Airlines, carried 58 tons of relief materials including tents, water and medicines. This was the third batch of relief supplies carried by Jade Cargo, with flights carrying 60 tons each Wednesday and Friday.

The deadly tropical cyclone Nargis killed more than 20,000 people and left more than 37,000 people missing in Myanmar.

Traffic accidents

THE city recorded 869 traffic accidents in the first four months of this year, 25.41 percent lower than the same period last year. A total of 213 people were killed and 1,069 people injured in the accidents, the traffic police authority said.

Breaches of traffic regulations and jay walking were the major reasons behind the accidents, the authority said.

Illegal taxis

SHENZHEN traffic police fined 10 people for operating illegal taxis Saturday, during an operation at Huanggang Checkpoint. The drivers were each fined 30,000 yuan (US$4,286).

Since the start of the year, Shenzhen police have punished around 2,941 people for operating illegal taxis or cargo vehicles.
