U.S. President George W. Bush yesterday kicked off his Middle East trip in Israel where he hopes to push ahead with peace efforts while marking the 60th anniversary of the Jewish state.

Car bomb

A POWERFUL car bomb detonated yesterday outside a police station in Legutiano, a small town in northern Spain, killing one officer and wounding four, police said.

Police blamed the militant Basque separatist group ETA for the attack.

New cyclone

ANOTHER small cyclone threatens already battered Myanmar, as a low pressure area has developed in the the Bay of Bengal, according to the Myanmar government which announced the news in a special radio broadcast yesterday.
