No remittance fee

CHINA’S banking regulators Wednesday ordered all banks to open “green channels” for disaster relief donations from home and abroad and scrap the remittance fee. All lenders should make sure every penny of the donations is accounted for, the China Banking Regulatory Commission said.

Rumors stopped

CHINA’S public security departments have punished 17 rumormongers as of Thursday, according to the Ministry of Public Security. Public security bureaus in 11 provinces and municipalities found more than 40 messages that circulated malicious rumors about the earthquake on the Internet and found 17 people who were responsible.

Power supply back

POWER supply has been resumed in most parts of Sichuan, the State Grid Corporation of China announced Thursday. However, people in Beichuan and Aba had no electricity.
