Taxi subsidy

LOCAL taxi drivers will receive subsidies following two fuel hikes in June. A detailed proposal of the subsidy is being drafted by the city government, which is expected to come out in two weeks. Retail fuel price for 93-odane gasoline were raised to 6.25 yuan (US$0.91) per liter Tuesday, which will increase fuel costs for taxi drivers by as much as 1,000 yuan per month.

Summer subsidy

EMPLOYERS are required to pay a monthly subsidy of 150 yuan (US$22) to each outdoor worker from June to October if the outside temperature reaches 35 degrees Celsius or higher, according to the city labor bureau. Employees who work indoors are to receive a monthly 100-yuan subsidy during the same period if interiors are not air-conditioned and temperatures rise to 33 degrees or more.

New offices

THE traffic police bureau opened three more offices to handle vehicle license plate applications Wednesday. Instead of driving to Xili Vehicle Administration Office, owners of newly purchased vehicles can register at Dongyi Car Dealership in Luohu District, Pengchengbao Vehicle Dealership in Futian District or Huanan Cars Sales Center.
